PepsiCo Reveals New Aunt Jemima Brand and Logo, But ...

After months of waiting, PepsiCo has announced a new brand name and logo for Aunt Jemima syrup. The move comes after a very racially-sensitive year last year following several high-profile killings of black people at the hands of police officers and others.

Many companies are progressively moving forward and becoming more aware of the racial injustices in this country and they are changing the way things have been for many years. The new name for Aunt Jemima syrup is Pearl Milling Company, which pays homage to the mill which began making self-rising pancake mix in 1889.

Hmmmmm ... I was hoping for something that included more diversity and something more up-to-date. When I think of the 1800s I think of slavery. How do we know slaves didn't build the mill that they are referring to? That's just my thought.
