The Verzuz battles continue, although this time it has a twist. On Feb. 27 R&B crooner D'Angelo will be battling his friends. Yup, it's D'Angelo vs. Friends and the battle will take place at the famed Apollo Theater in New York.
I've watched practically every Verzuz battle since they started last year at the beginning of the pandemic. It's a great way to get caught up on all the hits your favorite artist has while they face off with other artists. And like I've said before it's not really a battle, it's more like a free concert if you ask me and that's cool. The Verzuz series is the brainchild of producers Swizz Beatz and Timbaland.
This showdown will be a good one I'm sure, especially since it's not yet known who these "friends" are that D'Angelo will be battling. Here's my list: Angie Stone, Musiq Soulchild, Bilal, India.Arie, Rahsaan Patterson and Lauryn Hill. Wouldn't that be dope? I can't wait to see who he will actually be battling, maybe that's the element of surprise that will get people to tune in. I'll be watching either way.
