No More Cash Collecting at Illinois Tollways

If you drive on any Illinois Tollway you will no longer be able to stop and pay with cash at the toll booth.

Illinois is getting rid of cash tolls. At first the cash booths were eliminated during the pandemic so motorists would not have direct contact with toll booth operators. But now it will be a permanent move to go cashless.

Tollway drivers will now have to purchase a transponder which will allow you to go through the toll booth without stopping. For those low-income eligible applicants, the deposit for the transponder will be waived and there will be an initial bonus $20 added to the balance.

Safe driving y'all.
