The new trailer for the movie 'Respect' starring Jennifer Hudson has been released, and by the looks of this trailer I am counting down the days before the movie hits theaters this summer.
Jennifer Hudson is the perfect person to play the Queen of Soul, who was actually hand-picked by the legend before she passed away. And with her powerhouse vocals, she is definitely going to nail the role, hopefully winning another Oscar.
Aretha Franklin was actually crowned the 'Queen of Soul' in Chicago by legendary radio DJ Pervis Spann. Her "crowning" happened at the original site of the Regal Theater which was then located at 47th and King Drive where the Harold Washington Cultural Center is now located.
I love all these Chicago ties to Ms. Franklin and I cannot wait until the movie is released! 'Respect' hits theaters August 13th.
