CPD officer charged with aggravated battery in 2020 Red Line shooting

The Chicago Police officer who shot an unarmed man at a busy CTA Red Line station last year now faces aggravated battery and official misconduct charges in connection with the shooting. Officer Melvina Bogard, 32, is expected to appear in Cook County bond court Thursday, according to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. She is the second CPD officer to be criminally charged in a shooting this year.
