Services For Civil Rights Icon Timuel Black Held Thursday and Friday

Civil rights activist, author, educator and Chicagoan Timuel Black's public viewing will be held Thursday. He passed away earlier this month at the age of 102. The services will be held today from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at AA Rayner & Sons Funeral Home on East 71st Street.

Mr. Black’s funeral will be held Friday at First Unitarian Church of Chicago, where he attended for many years. That church is located at 5650 South Woodlawn Avenue. The viewing will begin at 10 a.m. with a private funeral following at 11 a.m.

On December 5, a public memorial will be held at Rockefeller Chapel on the campus of the University of Chicago.
