According to many residents of North Suburban Highland Park, many of them will not get "back to normal" anytime soon. One week after the horrific mass shooting at the city's 4th of July parade, many business are opening back up for the first time.
The streets have been reopened in the downtown area as well, and the eerie reminders of parade chairs, coolers and holiday items that were abandoned following the shooting have all been picked up and cleared away.
Nobody should ever have to endure such horror and the effect that tragic day will have on many lives will unfortunately be lasting. Peace and healing to the Highland Park community and to every family who has lost a loved one to senseless, inhumane gun violence.
