It’s the first day of winter today… the winter solstice. It marks the shortest day of the year in terms of hours of daylight. But it also means that daytime will be getting longer as nighttime gets shorter from here going forward until we hit spring!
A couple of other special things are happening on this big seasonal change… tonight is a full moon, traditionally called the Cold Moon or the Long Night Moon. This weekend is also peak viewing for the annual Ursids meteor shower where you might see several shooting stars in the night sky, if the bright light of the full moon doesn’t get in the way.
Try not to get too carried away in all the cosmic craziness… or go for it and have a really INTERESTING holiday! ;)
