Weâre down to the wire and itâs time to VOTE! The historic run-off election between Lori Lightfoot and Toni Preckwinkle to become Chicago's first African-American woman mayor is this Tuesday, April 2nd... and you can still vote early through Monday!
You can also still register to vote in the run-off at all voting sites. (Find all the info on early voting here.)
Also remember that this is not just a run-off for mayor⊠itâs also for city treasurer and aldermen in 15 wards. Here's a list of all the candidates who are up for election, if you're not sure who they are and if your ward is affected.
I know that no candidate is perfect and you may not like any of them on top of having valid complaints about them⊠but not voting only makes that worse. Sometimes, the choices we are offered arenât the ones we want, but not making a choice at all is giving up. Voting is the only power we really have and if we donât use it, we canât change a thing.
This also hasnât been a pretty campaign â I really canât stand that and Iâm disappointed at what Iâve heard and seen â but thatâs not going to stop me from voting and it shouldnât stop you either.
These are decisions to put people in office who really could affect your life⊠so please VOTE!
