Colin Kaepernick used his pull at Nike to keep them on the right track.
The gym shoe giant was set to debut their new Betsy Ross Air Max 1 on June 29th. They pulled them from stores after Colin pointed out that the colonial era flag gracing the shoe is offensive because of its connection to slavery... and it's also the chosen symbol of two white supremacist groups.
But there was an unintended consequence to the recall... the laws of supply and demand kicked in, turning the shoe into a limited edition with the few that had leaked out. Now, collectors are paying upwards of $2500 on resale sites for the design.
No word on how many shoes are still out there after the recall. Sometimes, you don't always win everything when you're trying to do right.
