Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle is proposing a measure that will bring more money into the county... but will bring the taxes on legal recreational cannabis up to around 25-35%. She's slapping a 3% county tax on your dispensary oo-wee beginning in January... that will be on top of the city’s 3% tax plus the state’s 20-30% tax (which will vary depending on potency).
But in sort of better news for those who want to travel with some of their stash for the holidays, TSA said they're not really looking for it but if they find it, they'll refer you to Chicago PD. And CPD says they don’t want to see it and would prefer if you didn't bring it to the airport, but they won’t take it from you or hold you as long as what you're holding is within legal limits.
