As the state begins to reopen, we’re all still looking for ways to have some fun… but everything we love about summertime Chi is still not quite back. The lakefront, Riverwalk and 606 trail are all still closed and the music festivals are called off, but there are a few things to look forward to:
Blues Fest may not be taking over Millennium Park this weekend, but you can still enjoy the music. The city’s Department of Culture Affairs and Special Events is hosting Millennium Park at Home on their YouTube channel this weekend from 6-8 tonight and tomorrow night.
Navy Pier is beginning their reopening during the week… the popular tourist attraction will start welcoming Chicagoans to their outdoor seating and park venues beginning Wednesday, June 10th. The Chicago Children’s Museum will be closed but you will be able to ride the ferris wheel.
You can enjoy the outdoors at the Chicago Botanic Garden this week too… the preserve is set to reopen this week on Tuesday, June 9th with preregistration and other precautions.
Chicago restaurants can reopen for outdoor dining this weekend and check out these links here and here to a few resources for black-owned establishments to support, whether you’re eating out or ordering in!
And to understand how reopening will work for now check out this article from Time Out Chicago.
Whatever you choose, have fun and don’t let me EVER hear you say you don’t have anything to do!
