While Illinois reported its highest number of COVID-19 cases since Memorial Day weekend, another danger could be lurking in our hand sanitizers.
The FDA has recalled over 100 hand sanitizers because they contain the potentially fatal chemical methanol, which is toxic when absorbed through the skin or ingested.
If you bought a brand online that you didn't recognize when stock was running low in stores, you may want to check the list to make sure you're not using something that could be dangerous. The FDA said that the toxic chemical probably won't appear on the ingredients list because they think it was contaminated and even caution against using any products by those same manufacturers.
Keep wearing your mask, staying socially distant, washing your hands and using sanitizer... just make sure it's the good stuff!
