Black girl magic marches on this week… a Chicago financial icon is making history at her alma mater! Princeton University is honoring Chicago’s Ariel Investments co-CEO Mellody Hobson with a residential college in her name.
Hobson College will be the first residential college at the Ivy League named for a black woman… and the same building was once named for President Woodrow Wilson. The school stripped his name from the building last year, saying it wasn’t right to honor him in that way because of his racist legacy.
So not only did she make history, she’s paving the way to right past wrongs! Congratulations to Mellody… check out Chicago making moves!
Remember to always celebrate your magic! xo
