Black People Magic celebrates the expansion of a movie franchise into new territory with a black woman becoming the first 007!
Just a week after the original 007 Sean Connery passed on, producers of the classic spy thriller series confirmed that actress Lashana Lynch, known from her work in “Captain Marvel,” will star in the upcoming film “No Time to Die.”
She will NOT play James Bond… that role still belongs to Daniel Craig. But Lynch will play Nomi, the agent who inherits the 007 title while Bond is in retirement.
This spring, rumors surfaced about this bold new casting rumors and the racist backlash was swift… just as it was when Idris Elba was rumored to be the next James Bond. Lashana’s taking it in stride, saying she’s “… part of something that will be very, very revolutionary,” adding that she searched to include moments for us where “… the Black experience that (she’s) presenting needs to be 100 percent authentic.”
“No Time to Die” is now scheduled to hit theaters in April of next year.
Remember to always celebrate your magic! xo
