Black People Magic: Michael B Jordan & more!

There’s always good news mixed in with the sad… and we can always find the magic in all our people.

We lost Chicagoan and MasterChef Junior star Ben Watkins to a rare cancer this week at the age of 14… and we also heard the news earlier this week that comedian Sinbad is recovering from a stroke.

But at the same time, Michael B. Jordan was named People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive and two military heroes made history.

Major General Cedric T. Wins was named the first black man to lead the Virginia Military Institute… where he earned his first degree. He’s served at the Joint Staff at the Pentagon and has been awarded a Bronze Star and Distinguished Service Medal.

And a Chicago area native was just named the first Black female brigade commander at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Midshipman 1st Class Sydney Barber from Lake Forest will serve in her historic post in the spring semester of 2021.

Remember to always celebrate your magic! xo
