Coronavirus deaths in Illinois topped 12,000 this week and infections reached over 700 thousand… but the news is looking good for vaccines to roll out soon.
Pfizer already submitted their vaccine for emergency approval last week and Moderna is expected to submit theirs soon. Some of the volunteers who participated in human trials for the vaccine have said the side effects are mild, with the worst of it feeling like a bad hangover.
The Operation Warp Speed program that was formed to develop a vaccine said that if they’re able to approve the vaccines and start immunizing people in December, the United States could reach herd immunity by May and relax COVID-related restrictions.
