Today is the 4th Day of Kwanzaa and the principle for today is Ujamaa, Cooperative Economics.Today is dedicated to building and maintaining our own stores, shops and other businesses, and to profit from them together. That’s what our Brilliantly Black Business program is all about!
And in the news yesterday, Forbes reports on a great example of taking Ujamaa to the next level... it looks like Percy Miller, the rapper formerly known as Master P, is teaming up with former NBA All-Star Baron Davis to purchase Reebok.
Reebok’s parent company Adidas is said to be shopping for a buyer for the sneaker brand, for an estimated 2.4 billion dollars. If Master P and Baron succeed in buying it, it would look like cooperative economics that could truly be for the culture.
