With another storm bearing down on us this afternoon, making plans to stay inside for fun is your safest bet this weekend… so here are a few things to do at home.
The virtual Polar Plunge is today! The Chicago Polar Bear Club is still raising money this year to support three Chicago families in need… but they’re not heading to the lakefront, it’s all happening online. You can join in the festivities by doing something fun in the cold – the timing couldn’t be better!
How about turning off the tv and reading a good book? There are a couple of new titles out this month from Chicago women that will show you a thing or two about the world around us…
Chicago journalist and author Deborah Douglas takes us on a virtual trip through history with “Moon U.S. Civil Rights Trail: A Traveler’s Guide to the People, Places, and Events that Made the Movement” and you can plan your next road trip for the family when outside opens up again!
…and Michelle Duster tells the story of her great-grandmother and Chicago icon Ida B. Wells in “Ida B. the Queen,” which has landed on a few lists of must-reads this year!
Whatever you choose, have fun and don’t let me EVER hear you say you don’t have anything to do!
