As we continue to celebrate Women’s History Month, today’s Black Girl Magic is about a longtime legislator who is the first black woman in decades to lead the department of Housing and Urban Development.
New HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge represented the state of Ohio as a Democratic congresswoman for 13 years, also chairing the Congressional Black Caucus.
During her confirmation hearing in January, she said her first priority would be to alleviate the COVID housing crisis and “get people the support they need to come back from the edge.”
Secretary Fudge is my Soror and a Past National President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Remember to always celebrate your magic! xo
