Get the Support and Care You Need from the Alzheimer's Association

If you've listened to my show, you’ve probably heard me talk about how dementia affected my father and my family... and how much it means to me to help anyone who’s going through the same thing.

I’m forever grateful to the Alzheimer’s Association for the help I got from them when my dad was first diagnosed. If you’re dealing with something similar in your family or concerned about it happening to you or a loved one, I want you to know there’s help and support.

The Alzheimer’s Association is hosting a virtual community forum on Thursday 5/27 at 6pm to talk about all the resources they offer and they want to hear from you about what you need. We as black people are twice as likely to be affected by Alzheimer’s and related dementias and our voices matter. Register and get more information here. There's also a support group for Women of Faith that meets on the 4th Saturday of every month at 2pm and you can find more information here.

They're also hosting a virtual forum for the LGBTQ community on June 3rd at 5:30pm (register and get more info here) and one for Spanish-speaking communities on June 15th at 7pm (register and get more info here).

You can also register for these events (all are happening via Zoom) and find out more information about their resources by calling 1-800-272-3900.

I dedicate this in honor of my dad (whose birthday is this week on 5/28) and my aunts who’ve had dementia or Alzheimer's too… all in the hopes that it will be better for other families like ours.

Hang in there, help is here. Prayers up!
