If you’re looking for serious deals on great food, there’s a new app called Too Good To Go that just launched in Chicago. The app offers special deals where you can buy a bag of restaurant food for $4 to $6 dollars – what you pay is always far less than what it’s normally worth. Then you pick it up at the end of the day.
What’s the catch? The food in the bag will always be a surprise. The actual goal of the app is to reduce food waste… restaurants have to throw out food that wasn’t purchased or picked up during the day. With the app, the restaurants can make a little money on what they’d normally lose everyday… and diners can help them out while we all make our city a little more sustainable on the cheap.
I’m thinking this would be perfect to try something new when you go to a concert at Grant Park Music Festival in Millennium Park, at Ravinia, or whenever you’re doing a picnic type situation. Like my mama always said, waste not, want not!
