The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences moved up their meeting to decide how to punish Will Smith after that slap at the Oscars and announced yesterday that the superstar actor will be banned from attending the ceremony for 10 years.
Some are saying it was harsh considering Will already resigned and others say it doesn’t really matter because it doesn’t bar him from winning on movie’s biggest night.
For his part, Will’s response was simple, his team released his statement saying, “I accept and respect the Academy's decision.”
Black Twitter and all of social media has kept this thing going, posting old video clips of Jada and Will in an attempt to shed light on their relationship.
One is from a Red Table Talk about her reluctance and his excitement at their wedding and another with Will telling her not to ambush him for a social video post at home. They’re interesting to be sure… but they also seem a little out of context.
