It's a sure sign of fall when the monarch butterflies start fluttering around town… and you’ll see them in huge numbers over the next few weeks before they start migrating south for the winter.
The butterflies start breeding during the summer in Canada and other areas further north of us… then they start their journey down through Chicago, into the Mississippi Valley, and across Texas before they get to their final destination in Mexico.
One of my friends who’s a great gardener says once you see them, we’ve got about 6 weeks left of summer weather… so we’d better enjoy it while we can!
