Late Congressman and Civil Rights leader John Lewis will be honored with his portrait on a postage stamp in 2023.
The U.S. Postal Service announced earlier this week that his stamp will “celebrate the life and legacy” of the activist and legislator who sepent more than 30 years representing Georgia in the House of Representatives after fighting against segregation and injustice during the Jim Crow era… getting into what he called “good trouble.”
One of his staff members said on Twitter that this was an honor he would’ve loved, because he made it a point to buy all the special stamps that commemorated the accomplishments of Black people.
