Community Connect hooks you up and helps you out with resources you can use… and if you’ve been hit with a big property tax bill in Cook County, this one’s for you!
Some neighborhoods have seen tax bills on their homes go up by almost 50%, with gentrifying Latino neighborhoods seeing the highest increases in the city of Chicago.
There have been demonstrations earlier this week to push for property tax reform in Cook County. In the meantime, to help with current tax bills, Universidad Popular Community Center in Little Village, 2801 S. Hamlin is hosting a free property tax exemption workshop today (Saturday 2/18) from 1 to 4 pm.
No registration is necessary, just bring your identification and proof of residency to receive help. Their goal is to help you get the exemptions you qualify for and perhaps get back thousands of dollars in refunds.
Our community moves forward best when we get the help we need and give the help we can!
