Beyoncé Knowles and Kelly Rowland are giving back to their hometown in a big way.
Essence & The Houston Chronicle reports the superstar singers are are joining forces with Harris County, the American Rescue Plan and other supporters to create a permanent housing complex to be named Knowles-Rowland House in Houston’s midtown area.
They’re expected to break ground on the $8.4 million complex in October, which will feature 31 new units of permanent housing at the Bread of Life gymnasium that will also offer services to support residents in everything from transportation to mental and behavioral health.
Beyoncé, Kelly and fellow Destiny's Child member Michelle Williams have made several contributions to the area over the years, going back to one of their earliest hits… they used some proceeds from “No, No, No” to start construction on a youth center in Houston.
