Black People Magic: Still Celebrating D Wade in Chicago!

Congratulations to Chicago area native Dwyane Wade… the NBA superstar was officially inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame last Saturday night!

The 6 foot 4 guard started his road to basketball glory at Richards High School in Oak Lawn, then attending Marquette University. His Hall of Fame career includes 3 NBA titles with the Miami Heat, 13 All-Star Appearances, including an All-Star Game MVP and he was the league's leader in scoring in 2009.

He’s also a star off the court… his Wade’s World Foundation turns 20 this year and continues to support community-based organizations that promote education, health, and social skills for children in at-risk situations. He’s also supported efforts to keep the library in Robbins open and extended his Live to Dream Summer Reading Program through 2025 with a major donation to Marquette’s Ralph C. Hartman Literacy and Learning Center.

He says the honor has yet to really settle in… but one of the best moments was when he dedicated his induction into the Hall of Fame to his father, saying, “We in the Hall of Fame, dawg.”

& Remember to always celebrate your magic! xo
