What's Happening This Weekend: Fantasia, 50 Cent, A King of Comedy & More

There’s a GANG of stuff to do this weekend… let’s get into it!

Fantasia is at the Chicago Theater tonight, showtime at 8pm.

50 Cent’s Final Lap Tour with Busta Rhymes and Jeremih hits United Center tonight at 7pm. 

D.L. Hughley is in town all weekend at the Improv in Schaumburg… tickets are still available for his Sunday show (tonight’s shows are sold out).

Chicago’s annual Mexican Independence Day Parade steps off at noon on 26th Street between Albany and Kostner in Little Village… around 400,00 people are expected at this weekend’s festivities celebrating Mexican identity and culture.

Midwest Black Restaurant Week runs through September 24 with specials showcasing the diversity of cuisine at black-owned establishments in Chicago and across the Midwest. 

The 3rd Annual Englewood Music Fest is today from 12-7pm at 63rd & Halsted. This free event features performances from Trick Daddy, Trina plus local artists, food, retail and service vendors, a gaming pavilion, health awareness and screenings, school supplies, and a senior pavilion as well as youth activities.

Englewood Jazz Fest wraps up for the season today from 11:30am-6 pm at Hamilton Park, 513 W. 72nd Street. Admission is free! 

Tomorrow is Clink Fest at the Bridgeport Art Center from 3-8pm. It’s a wine and spirits festival highlighting women, Black, Indigenous and people of color in the industry with more than 50 brands, 20 makers and 10 chefs. You must be 21 and older to attend. 

The Tony-Award-winning musical Hamilton is back, with a blend of hip-hop, jazz, and R&B, playing through December 30th at the James Nederlander Theater in Chicago. 

And Broadway in Chicago also just released tickets on sale yesterday for the Pre-Broadway premiere of the hit musical The Wiz at the Cadillac Palace Theater November 28th-December 10th. Common, MC Lyte, Kandi Buress are producers of the show.
