Community Connect hooks you up and help you out with resources you can use… this week is about recovery and walk season!
We could all use support sometimes and that’s what National Recovery Month in September is all about… helping those who struggle with mental health and substance use disorders. Brighter Behavior Choices and the Teech Foundation are hosting a Community Awareness Recovery Jam tomorrow from noon to 5pm at Phase II Recovery Café at 6506 South Western in Chicago. All anonymous support fellowships (AA, EA, GA, NA, CA and others) are all welcome at this free community event with speakers, raffles and giveaways, including school supplies, children's coats and other essentials. See flyer below!
And Thursday was World Alzheimer’s Day to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s and dementia and funds for prevention, treatment and eventually a cure. The Will County walk is today and there are walks across the area every weekend this month and the Chicago Walk to End Alzheimer’s is on Saturday, October 7th at Soldier Field beginning at 8:30 am. I hope you’ll register and support in any way you can!
Remember, our community moves forward in the best way possible when we all get the help we need and give the help we can!
