Congratulations to Jennifer Jones, a Tony-Award winning dancer who was recently honored with the prestigious Dance Role Model Award for breaking through racial barriers and paving a path for others.
Ms. Jones auditioned for the famous Radio City Music Hall Rockettes back in 1987 at the age of 20 and made history when she made the cut, becoming the legendary dance company’s first African American Rockette since its founding in 1932. Her debut was at the Super Bowl XXII half-time show in 1988 with Chubby Checker. She continued to dance in the high-kicking line-up until 2002.
Jennifer is also a colon cancer survivor who advocates for early detection and screenings in our community. She just released her inspiring story in a children’s book last month, and her full memoir, “Becoming Spectacular,” comes out next year.
& Remember to always celebrate your magic! xo
