The Color Purple press tour has been an emotional one… Taraji P. Henson went viral earlier this week after her tearful interview on Gayle King’s radio show about unfair pay and treatment for Black actresses in Hollywood. She got lots of support on social media from her fans and colleagues, like Viola Davis, Gabrielle Union and Keke Palmer sharing their own stories.
But she hit Instagram yesterday to straighten out some of the shade and speculation about Oprah’s part in all that, as one of the executive producers of The Color Purple. Taraji shared a pic with Oprah, writing that all it took was “ONE CALL… ONE CONVERSATION… and ONE DECISION MAKING BLACK WOMAN to make me feel heard.” She added that “It is so important for black women and ALL women of color to support each other.”
The Color Purple opens in theaters Christmas Day and it is AMAZING… please go out and support it this weekend!
