Former First Lady Michelle Obama is supporting girls moving forward in her favorite city and hometown!
This week, she released a video announcing a $500,000 gift to empower and uplift girls in Chicago through the Girls Opportunity Alliance, which will distribute the money to 14 grass-roots organizations, with plans to distribute more funding later this year.
The Alliance will also provide organizational support to 60 organizations across the city. The Girls Opportunity Alliance Network is a community of more than 4,000 leaders around the world who exchange ideas, information, and resources to enhance organizations’ capacity and sustainability. Mrs. Obama’s vision for the Network here is to reach girls on the South and West Sides of Chicago, especially in the neighborhoods surrounding the future Obama Presidential Center.
