If money is tight but you need help filing your taxes, Chicago non-profit organization Ladder Up is here for you! They’re kicking off their 29th tax season with their free annual Tax-A-Thon today from 9am to 2pm at Olive Harvey College. Tax experts will be on hand to provide free, high-quality tax filing services for Illinois residents facing financial constraints. Services are for individual filers earning up to $32,000 and households earning up to $64,000 a year. And if you can’t make it there today, visit 1 of their 13 locations or work with volunteers online at this link.
Next Saturday, February 10th, Chicago Jazz Philharmonic kicks off Black History Month with the world premiere of “Women Out of Time,” celebrating 3 groundbreaking women of jazz: Lillian Hardin Armstrong, Mary Lou Williams, and Nina Simone. It’s at 7 pm at the Kehrein Center for the Arts in Chicago's Austin neighborhood and tickets are only $1.00 for this incredible performance.
