Community Connect: Food for the Soul

Community Connect, hooks you up and helps you out with resources you can use… this week, we celebrate Black History Month through the history of our city's best food!

On Monday, February 26th, Kennedy-King College hosts the launch of “Chicago's Soul: The Heart of Chicago’s Soul Food Dining”… a book produced by the school’s Publication Design class over the past two years. Students designed, photographed, and wrote about the Chicago restaurants that created the soul food culture of our city to celebrate its history and importance to our community.

This free event features a panel of guest chefs, a soul food tasting from several restaurants featured in the book, along with recipes made by students from the Washburne Culinary & Hospitality Institute which is also part of the City Colleges of Chicago. It’s all happening Monday from 1 to 4pm, at Kennedy King College in the U Building at 740 W. 63rd Street.

You can get tickets for free at this link!

Remember, our community moves forward in the best way possible when we all get the help we need and give the help we can!
