For festive parades and pretty lights in the sky, you have lots of choices all over the Chicago area today:
Soldier Field and Navy Pier had their big 4th fireworks shows last night… Navy Pier will host their regular weekly fireworks show this Saturday at 10pm, continuing every Saturday night through Labor Day, as well as every Wednesday night at 9pm.
Blue Island’s 4th of July parade starts at noon, running through the town’s historic business district. The fireworks show will be at Waterfall Park at 9pm.
South Holland has an all-day celebration at Veterans Park, with a fireworks display after dark.
Six Flags Great America is featuring fireworks today, tomorrow and Saturday at9:45pm for visitors to the theme park.

And Highland Park will host its 4th of July parade for the first time since the shooting two years ago that left seven people dead and dozens more injured. The parade route will be slightly different, bypassing where the shooting happened. The parade will step off at 1pm with the theme “Sweet Home Highland Park.”
