Celebrating the Black People Magic of Chicago ladies who golf… congratulations to Ebony Ladies Golf League, the first Black women’s golf league in the Midwest celebrating their 50th anniversary!
It was founded in 1974 by Mrs. Louise Horne and 14 pioneering golfing women at Pipe O’Peace Golf Course in Riverdale, which is now Joe Louis the Champ Golf Course… with a mission to promote good skills in the sport and provide a welcoming, supportive environment for Black women golfers. They’ve now transformed into a philanthropic non-profit organization.
To celebrate, they’re hosting their 50th Anniversary Golden Gala Celebration on Sunday, August 11th at Idlewild Country Club in Flossmoor to fund junior golf programs and initiatives aimed at increasing participation. Current President Tracy Raoul said the gala “is a chance to celebrate our achievements, reflect on our journey, and look forward to the future.” Find more information or tickets at this link.
