Celebrating the Black People Magic of Madam Vice President Kamala Harris who made history Thursday night here in Chicago as the first Black woman and first person of South Asian descent to accept the Democratic nomination for President of the United States at the Democratic National Convention. She promised Americans a “future that neither Donald Trump nor Joe Biden could deliver,” and said she would “lift the country to a new place after years being torn apart by its bitter divides.”
And 9-time WNBA All-Star Nneka Ogwumike will lead LeBron James’ “More Than a Vote” organization to help get the vote out this year. The non-profit launched in 2020 and this revived effort will now focus on women’s issues and reproductive rights that Ogwumike says is about “more than just abortion… (it) sends a very clear message: no one else should have the power to make decisions over our bodies and our healthcare.” Ogwumike is a long-time activist who is no stranger to leadership, once serving as president of the players union.
Let this inspire you to remember to always celebrate your magic! xo
