DNC Wraps: Kamala Shines in Chicago

Last night was the 4th and final night of the 2024 Democratic National Convention. Even with protests and traffic gridlock, it was a resounding success—for the party and the city of Chicago.

The audience took their cheers to the next level as Madam Vice President Kamala Harris formally accepted the Democratic nomination for president during her historic speech, the first Black woman and person of South Asian descent to do so.

She talked about upbringing, her career as a prosecutor, and what America would look like if she was elected as president in November, saying, “I will be a President who unites us around our highest aspirations. A President who leads—and listens. Who is realistic. Practical. And has common sense. And always fights for the American people. From the courthouse to the White House, that has been my life’s work."

She also dedicated the beginning of her speech to her late mother, Shyamala Gopalan Harris, who told her to, “never complain about injustice, but do something about it… and never do anything half-assed.” Then she ended her speech by saying, “Together, let us write the next great chapter in the most extraordinary story ever told.”

Let's tell it!
