Community Connect: Labor Day Parade Plus Community Play

It’s a free celebration of Chicago’s legacy in the labor movement with the 2024 Labor Day Parade, stepping off at noon from 107th and Cottage Grove heading south to end at 112th Street. After the parade, enjoy Eddie Fest, with live music, food, and family-friendly activities. Parking is free at the House of Hope (752 E. 114th Street) with a free shuttle starting at 9am.

And looking ahead to the weekend of September 13-15th, tickets are on sale now for the stage play “Beyond the Door” at the Beverly Arts Center. It’s about the triumphant life story of playwright Denise Jones and her journey from addiction, abuse and jail to successful entrepreneur who now provides opportunities for the formerly incarcerated. Proceeds from the play support Tender Touch, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting women and girls in their pursuit of drug-free lives after leaving correctional facilities.

Remember, our community moves forward in the best way possible when we all get the help we need and give the help we can!
