This year is the 40th Anniversary of house music and the city’s celebrating big! To commemorate this milestone for the music genre that started in Chicago, the Inaugural House Music Parade steps off tomorrow (Saturday, August 31st) morning at 10 am at 23rd & Michigan Avenue ending at 27th & Calumet, where the Playground Reunion Block Party will go from noon to 7pm.
The goal of the parade is to celebrate the art form, raise awareness and education for the music. Expect to see lots of guest DJs, dignitaries, dance troops, and car clubs… and of course, house music in the streets!
The parade and block party are free for everyone to attend and brought to you by the House Music Museum and Hall of Fame Foundation with legendary house DJ Farley Jack Master Funk and Delece Williams.
