Good news for fans of the show “Bel-Air,” the modern take on the classic sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” that was Will Smith’s first big acting role… on Wednesday, the Peacock Network announced the show has been renewed for a fourth season with a video from the cast saying, “The family is coming back!” (see post below)
The not-so-great news is, it will be the final season for the fan favorite on NBC’s streaming service, starring Jabari Banks as Will Smith. During its run, Bel-Air has paid homage to the original show, with guests including Tatyana Ali, who played Ashley Banks, Joseph Marcell who played Geoffrey, Vernee Watson-Johnson Will's mom, Viola "Vy" Smith), & Daphne Maxwell Reid, the 2nd Aunt Viv.
And for those who don’t know the Chicago connection to the show… it’s run and written by Carla Banks Waddle, a Detroit native who is an alum of Northwestern University. No start date has been given yet for Season 4.
