Community Connect: Supporting Brain Health and Caregivers

Community Connect always hooks you up and helps you out with resources you can use… this weekend, it's all about your brain health!

The Illinois Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association just launched a collaboration with the Illinois Department of Public Health, to share resources and information about brain health. It’s called the Illinois Brain Health Project, and this groundbreaking health initiative has easy, everyday actions that anyone can do keep your brain healthy your whole life, from physical activity, quality sleep and cognitive activity to promoting healthy lifestyle practices without feeling overwhelmed. It’s all aimed at reducing your future risk for dementia and Alzheimer’s, which can be a devastating diagnosis for patients and their families. Find out more at YourBrainWillThankYou.com.

And the chapter is also hosting its Third Annual African American Conference—Release the Silence next Saturday, May 3rd, at Greenwood Oasis (7621 S. Greenwood in Chicago) from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm. It’s a free program that helps our community navigate Alzheimer’s and dementia with help and resources available in our neighborhoods for caregivers, future caregivers, and healthcare professionals. Please register in advance and find all the info you need at this link and see the details on the flyer below.

Remember, our community moves forward in the best way possible when we all get the help we need and give the help we can!
