Memorial Day Weekend brings 3 days to have fun this weekend as summer starts in Chicago—no matter what the temps say!
Today, Chicago’s hosts its Memorial Day remembrances to honor the men and women who protected our nation’s freedom with their service in the military who are no longer with us. It starts with the Wreath Laying Ceremony at Daley Plaza (50 West Washington Street) at 11am followed by the parade at noon on State Street from Lake Street to Van Buren.
Tonight, it’s the first of Navy Pier’s summer fireworks displays starting at 10pm and continuing all summer on Wednesday and Saturday nights through Labor Day weekend.

Laugh with Tony Rock at the Improv in Schaumburg tonight and tomorrow night…
Angela Winbush, Shirley Murdock, Lenny Williams, Surface and The Force MD’s headline the Formal Spring Ball tonight at Matrix in Naperville. VIP tickets include dinner, showtime at 8pm. Then tomorrow, Matrix features Glenn Jones, Keith Washington, Tony Terry, Tracie Spencer and Karyn White at the Matinee Concert Brunch, showtime at 4pm.

And tickets are on sale for the world premiere of She Who Dared at Chicago Opera Theater June 3rd-8th. The opera tells the story of the real life Black women of the Montgomery Bus Boycott and it’s the first professionally produced opera written by two Black Women and features an all-Black female cast!
