Legendary blues musician and 8-time Grammy-winner Buddy Guy celebrated his 89th birthday on Wednesday with a party at his venue, Buddy Guy’s Legends, with family and many special guests. He also threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Cubs game yesterday!
Buddy’s had a big year, proving that age is just a number and you’re never too old to do new things. Following his appearance in the box office smash Sinners earlier this year, he’s just headed back out on tour and released his latest album, Ain’t Done with the Blues. The album is his first full-length studio album since 2022 and features his iconic style of Chicago blues and features guest spots with Joe Walsh of The Eagles and Peter Frampton.
And former Congressman Bobby Rush celebrated with some of his fellow comrades from the Illinois Black Panther Party last weekend as the Historical Preservation Society laid a plaque at the site of the group’s headquarters at Madison and Western. The Society will place 12 more plaques at sites across the city and in Peoria to commemorate important locations to the movement.
& Remember to always celebrate your magic! xo
