Kenya Vaun returns with her latest single that will have you missing the summer.
On Friday, October 20, the R&B artist released the live version of her song "Summer" via 300 Entertainment. The guitar-laced banger allows Vaun to vent her frustrations about life as she craves to escape to a place where summer never ends.
"I came up with the song 'Summer' because I basically wanted to touch up on a feeling of working that 9 to 5 and wanting to get away," Vaun tells iHeartRadio. "So my song 'Summer' is basically here to bring that feeling of summer never ending."
The song is her second release of the year. Back in February, the Philly native kicked off the year with her previous single "Overrated." The song helped gain plenty of traction right out of the gate with over 1 million streams and counting. Prior to that, Vaun released her other popular track "Bout Me," which is what attracted the good people at 300 Ent. The song inspired the label to offer Vaun her first major record deal in 2022.
"I grew up listening to powerful artists with powerful messages whether that's India.Arie or Lauryn Hill," Vaun says. "Being inspired by them and other wonderful people made me want to be the type of artist who isn't just saying a bunch of materialistic things but mainly leading with a message --- a message that people can feel."
