The Strawberry Letter: He Brought Me The Wrong Clothes

Dear Steve and Shirley,

My boyfriend and I used to spend time at each other's homes, but that stopped when he brought me clothes that don’t belong to me. He’s a big fan of going to the cleaners, so I told him to take my work clothes that I had left over at his house. He called and said he was going by the cleaners and then coming to my house. He said he also washed my workout clothes and would bring those, too.

He came in, laid the clothes on a chair, and we ate dinner. He said he was leaving because he had an early morning the next day. Later, I got ready for bed and went to hang up the dry cleaning. I had a skirt, a blouse, and a blazer, but there was also a pair of pinstripe pants mixed in with my clothes. I called to ask him if he went to the same dry cleaner he usually goes to because I had a pair of pants that weren’t mine. He said yes and gave me the receipt number.

The next morning, I went to return the pants and found out that my boyfriend had brought them in. The owner of the cleaners even showed me a detailed receipt. At that point, I was furious. When I got home, I looked through the workout clothes he had washed, folded, and put in a bag for me. I found a pair of leggings and socks that weren’t mine either.

My man has had someone over at his house, and she’s comfortable enough to be leaving clothes there. I painted the picture in my mind—I didn’t need his lies to create doubt. I started thinking back to all the nights he came to my house early and said he had to leave by 8 p.m. to get to bed early. That must be when the girl comes over, gets naked, and leaves her clothes behind. I know exactly what’s going on.

Am I way off, or am I right? Can’t wait to hear from you guys!
